Family night at DuPage Children’s Museum

On January 25, students and families of the District 45 STARS and Multi-Needs programs participated in a delightful night of learning through play at the DuPage Children’s Museum.

Participating families explored a variety of hands-on exhibits where science, math, and art converged to offer an educational and fun experience. The Frida Community Organization, which also reserved the museum for the night, provided pizza and snacks.

High-interest exhibits for families included those in the Museum’s AWEsome Energy neighborhood, which engaged families in experiencing how air, water and electricity influence the world around them.

Bilingual and STARS Program Psychologist at Schafer Elementary, Karen Crowley, noted that the exhibits offered play areas that students aren’t typically offered in other settings.

Another high-interest exhibit for families was the Moser Construction House, where they experimented with real wood and tools, including hammers, screwdrivers and saws.

Crowley said the event offered a space where families and students could be themselves while enjoying each other’s company.

“I loved seeing the kids running around and enjoying themselves, “ Crowley said. “ I also enjoyed catching up with families and chatting with them in a relaxed environment.”

What a fun night! Thank you to the Frida Community Organization for sponsoring the event. A special thank you to the DuPage Children’s Museum for welcoming our families and providing a wonderful experience!
